The first thing I am curious about is: why did you decide to read the book?
Second: why do you want to read it in this kind of set up?
Third: technical question:
Do you want to post comments as you read along, or do you prefer we read a certain number of pages first, then we comment on that portion?
I decided to read the book because I'm an avid reader. I also payed for the book so why not?
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to learning different perspectives of the work and gaining insight into the author's intended meaning.
I prefer the latter.
I decided to read the book because we had already planned to do so, and I am not one to leave tasks unfinished.
ReplyDeleteI want to read the book in this set-up so that I do not get so lost in the plot that I avoid important details pertaining to history, stereotype, etc.
I prefer we read a number of pages, and then comment. I feel as if this will be easier to keep up with.
The material in the class was very intriguing so I expect this book to follow suit and I am excited to find out.Futhermore, this setting allows me to write out my analysis of the book affording me the opportunity to have a clearer understanding of what I am reading. I think a guided study of the book will give us a better understanding. But, also, idependent reading and analysis of certain parts of the book, that stand out to each individual, should also have a place in this book club. I think asking questions about, and drawing conclusion on intereting pieces of the book will also spark discussion and shed light on things others may have missed. The fusion of the two, I beleive, will prove beneficial before and after graduation.
